چکیده [English] | ||
Aim: The purpose of the present study was to investigate structural equation modeling of the body dysmorphic disorder based on body image concern and fear of negative evaluation with mediating role of self-esteem in women with breast cancer. Method: This was descriptive-correlation research. The statistical population of the study was women with breast cancer who of Tehran city in autumn year 2024. The sample size was selected based on Klein's model (2023) and with convenience sampling of 300 women. Data collection tools include the body dysmorphic disorder scale (BDDS) of Hanley and et al (2020), body image concern inventory (BICI) of Littleton and et al (2005), brief fear of negative evaluation scale (FNES-B) of Leary (1983) and self-esteem scale (RSEs) of Rosenberg (1989). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and structural equations modeling. Results: The results showed direct effect are significant. The results also showed that self-esteem has a significant mediating role in the relationship between body image and fear of negative evaluation with body dysmorphic disorder. Also, the final research model had a good fit. Conclusion: The results of the present study show that attention to concerns about body image, fear of negative evaluation, and self-esteem by psychologists can help explain body dysmorphic disorder in patients with breast cancer visiting hospitals. Accordingly, the findings of the present study may have practical implications for health psychologists in psychological interventions to reduce body dysmorphic symptoms.
